Who We Are …

In 1973, Bertrand J. Theroux, CPA opened an accounting practice in Torrington, handling small business and individual taxation, financial statements and planning services. In 1992, J. Kenneth Nowell, CPA opened his own practice in Downtown Torrington, fresh from 7 years of professional experience at two major firms and a real estate management company.

In 1994, Ken moved his office to the building where Bert was running his practice, on North Elm Street. They professionally “co-habitated” in this manner until the fall of 1998, when they formed Theroux & Nowell, LLC and moved out to the current location at 53 Peck Road. Today, Ken runs the office as a sole practitioner, together with 5 amazing bookkeepers and staff who help keep our clients happy.

Ken has lived in Torrington with his wonderful wife Karen since 1987. He has served on numerous boards and committees over the years, including a stretch of 19 out of 20 years on the Board of the United Way of Northwest Connecticut (where he served as Treasurer for the vast majority of those years, and as Campaign Chair in 2003 and 2004).
